Why does my vehicle show as offline?
Your Tesla may show as offline when it’s asleep, has no cellular connection, or is in a low-power state.
This is normal behavior and not a problem with Sentry Driver.
Common reasons your vehicle appears offline:
Vehicle is asleep: Teslas enter sleep mode to conserve battery when parked. This is normal and healthy for the battery. Fleet Telemetry only streams data when the vehicle is awake.
Poor cellular coverage: If your Tesla is parked in a garage, underground, or in an area with weak cellular signal, it may not be able to communicate.
Power saving mode: Some vehicles have energy-saving settings that limit connectivity when parked.
What happens when offline:
- Telemetry data is not streamed while the vehicle is asleep
- The vehicle will reconnect automatically when it wakes up (e.g., when you start driving or open the Tesla app)
- You can wake the car using the Tesla app if needed
When to be concerned:
If your vehicle has been driving but still shows offline for an extended period, check:
- Your Tesla’s cellular connectivity in the car’s settings
- Whether your Tesla account is still connected in Sentry Driver
- That you haven’t revoked Sentry Driver’s access in your Tesla account settings
- That the key pairing is still active
