Why am I not receiving notifications on Android?
On Android, you must disable battery optimization for Sentry Driver to receive notifications reliably.
Android aggressively limits background app activity to save battery. This can prevent Sentry Driver from:
- Receiving push notifications when the app is closed
- Performing background Bluetooth checks for driver detection
- Processing alerts in real-time
How to fix:
- Open your phone’s Settings
- Go to Apps > Sentry Driver
- Tap Battery (or Battery optimization)
- Select Unrestricted or Don’t optimize
Samsung devices may require additional steps:
- Go to Settings > Device care > Battery
- Tap App power management or Sleeping apps
- Remove Sentry Driver from any sleeping/restricted lists
- Add Sentry Driver to Never sleeping apps
Why this is necessary:
Unlike iOS, Android allows apps to be completely suspended in the background. When this happens, the app cannot receive the silent notifications needed for driver presence checks or process incoming alerts. Disabling battery optimization ensures Sentry Driver can run in the background when needed.
