What firmware version does my Tesla need?
Sentry Driver requires Tesla’s Fleet Telemetry API, which has specific firmware requirements.
| Model | Minimum Firmware |
|---|---|
| Model 3 | 2024.26 or newer |
| Model Y | 2024.26 or newer |
| Model S (2021+) | 2024.26 or newer |
| Model X (2021+) | 2024.26 or newer |
| Model S/X (pre-2021 with MCU2) | 2025.20 or newer |
| Cybertruck | 2024.26 or newer |
How to check your firmware:
Open the Tesla app and look at your vehicle’s software version, or check in your car under Controls > Software.
What if my firmware is too old?
Your Tesla will update automatically when new firmware is available. You can check for updates in your car under Controls > Software > Check for Updates. Updates are rolled out gradually by Tesla, so it may take some time before your vehicle receives the latest version.
Special note for pre-2021 Model S/X:
Pre-2021 Model S and Model X with MCU2 require firmware 2025.20+ and do not need key pairing. Instead, you must enable “Allow Third-Party App Data Streaming” in your vehicle’s Settings > Safety menu.
Pre-2021 vehicles with MCU1 hardware cannot support Fleet Telemetry regardless of firmware version - this is a hardware limitation.
