I'm getting false accident detection alerts. How do I fix this?

If you’re receiving accident alerts from normal driving, try adjusting the sensitivity level.

Accident detection works by monitoring the G-forces experienced by your vehicle. Some driving conditions can trigger false positives:

  • Driving over potholes or speed bumps at speed
  • Aggressive driving on bumpy roads
  • Sudden maneuvers to avoid obstacles

How to adjust sensitivity:

  1. Open Sentry Driver and go to Rules
  2. Find your Accident Detection rule
  3. Adjust the sensitivity:
    • Low (2G threshold) - Most sensitive, catches minor incidents but may have false positives
    • Medium (4G threshold) - Balanced, industry-standard threshold
    • High (8G threshold) - Least sensitive, only triggers on severe impacts

Recommended settings:

  • Start with Medium for most users
  • If you drive on rough roads regularly, try High (less sensitive)
  • If your vehicle is often parked in high-risk areas and you want to catch even minor bumps, use Low (more sensitive)

Understanding G-forces:

  • Normal driving: 0.2-0.5G
  • Hard braking: 0.5-1G
  • Minor fender bender: 2-4G
  • Significant collision: 4-8G
  • Severe crash: 8G+

The app has a 5-minute cooldown between alerts to prevent notification spam from repeated triggers.
