Do curfew rules account for time zones?

Yes, curfew rules use your local time zone and work correctly even when traveling.

When you create a curfew rule, the times you set are based on your device’s local time zone at the moment of creation.

How it works:

  • Set curfew times in your local time (e.g., 10 PM to 6 AM)
  • The rule stores these times with timezone information
  • Alerts trigger based on the configured times, adjusted for time zone

Example:

You set a curfew from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM in New York (Eastern Time):

  • If the car is driven at 11:00 PM Eastern, you’ll get an alert
  • If you travel to California and drive at 11:00 PM Pacific, the rule still applies correctly

Configuring days:

You can specify which days the curfew applies:

  • Every day: Curfew active all week
  • Specific days: Only active on selected days (e.g., school nights only)
  • Weekdays/Weekends: Quick presets for common patterns

To create a curfew rule:

  1. Go to Rules > Add Rule > Curfew
  2. Set the start time (when curfew begins)
  3. Set the end time (when curfew ends)
  4. Select which days it applies
  5. Optionally enable “only when owner absent”
  6. Save the rule

Tip: Curfews that span midnight work correctly - setting 10 PM to 6 AM creates a curfew for those nighttime hours.
